That sounds like an excuse that I might use! LOL!

This morning I drove to Salem, about an hour's drive, for a doctor appointment, mainly checking on side effects of my meds and how I am doing in general. My labs were gone through thoroughly and it was noticed that my sodium count was low and has been for about a year. I'm not sure what the results of that kind of thing are but my doctor said there was one medication I'm on that could cause that, and I could be switched out to something else if it continued -- just what that alternative med might be, I have no idea. So I go in a month to have another blood test. I forgot to ask so sent an e-mail to my doctor wanting to know if I should be fasting or not. It sometimes takes a long time for her to get back to me, and sometimes she just plain doesn't, so I'm prepared to call and leave a message in a couple of weeks if I haven't received an answer by then.
Too funny! LOL!

It was warmer this morning, thank goodness! I woke up at 5 a.m. to use the loo and I turned on the TV afterwards, to the weather channel, and discovered that it was 34 F outside, so I was able to turn off the trickling water. My hot shower sure felt good when I got up later!
I'm supposed to get propane today and I'm waiting for that to come. I'm down to 30% in my tank, which is as low as I want to go.
My light bill came yesterday and that was at the maximum that I had envisioned it might be. It has gone out in the mail today. I have been running the heater here in the office during the days and that's partly why, but PGE got a price increase, too, so that's another reason. I'm going to have to turn on the heater out in the pumphouse later on this week because we're supposed to get some more colder air and that will keep the level of usage up, still.
I had my buttermilk pancakes and ham last night, finishing them up, and today I will cook chicken and have a baked potato.
I have looked through my Splenda cookbook and found some more new recipes I want to try in the next 10 days or so, particularly for some blueberry goodies. I don't imagine I will find fresh blueberries at the store so I'll have to settle for frozen. I'm sure they will still be good.
Tomorrow I go to Sheila's for breakfast, and then next Friday I have a doctor's appointment, if the weather is decent for traveling. From the weather channel forecasts, it looks like we could get some freezing rain or snow next week but it's early to tell yet.
Help like this, Ziggy doesn't need! LOL!

I have been striking out when it comes to Blockbuster movies in the last several weeks. That is why you haven't been seeing reviews here. I think maybe I've gotten to the point of scraping the bottom of the barrel until some recent good movies are available for rent.
Several weeks ago I watched "Love in the Time of Cholera", which was "R" rated and for good reason. It had a lot of sensuality in it -- more than I was comfortable with.
The next week (last week, actually), I started "Knocked Up" with Katherine Heigl of Grey's Anatomy and I watched 10 minutes before being grossed out by the gratuitous bad language. Even Ryan Seacrest, the cute host of "American Idol", was using bad language and that made me disappointed in him. I took the DVD out and sent it back mostly unwatched. (The movie came unrated.)
Last night I watched "Snow Angels," which was a weird movie -- mostly quite dark in theme and subject matter. It was also rated "R". I was beginning to feel like someone else was putting movies in my queue, as I couldn't remember selecting this one and I couldn't imagine from the description that I would have wanted to see it. However, I must have picked it out at some moment when I didn't read all that was said about it in the Blockbuster blurb.

Oops, I sure hope not! My guess, though, is that I would taste more like pork. LOL!

Thanks to our being snowed in so thoroughly -- at least J.D. and Kris and I, and possibly Tiffany -- we have changed our family Christmas to Saturday evening 12/27. Kris's parents will be here and so we will have a good crowd. I have my box of Christmas gifts downstairs and ready for J.D. or Jeff to pick up, depending on the timing and the weather. It's not a heavy box but it's a bulky one.
I was able to go out to the mailbox to pick up my mail this afternoon. It wasn't so difficult walking. I appreciated Jeff taking out my outgoing mail earlier, before I got up the courage to try making it out that far on my own. But then, it made it easy to follow in his footsteps.
I have been gradually opening gifts. I opened two from Grandsons Michael and Alex, containing pictures I had hoped to get, both in the form of ornaments for my little tree and 2 X 3 pictures for my fridge. They are very cute!
I also opened a gift from my friend Jackie, who sent me another cat-themed purse and a cat kitchen timer.
Then there was the package I opened from my friend Cindy, which was a nice cat-themed sweatshirt that I may wear to the Roth celebration. It looks warm! I wonder how it would do with layers, which is what I am having to wear right now.
I will open one more gift this afternoon and another gift tomorrow and then one on Christmas. I kind of like spreading them out this year, as the mood hits.
I have just turned off my hot water so it can warm up enough for me to get a bath. My thermometer says it is 32 degrees outside but I'm not sure if that's right. I am still running cold water as insurance, in case my thermometer isn't correct, as it keeps reading higher than others in the area. I will be so relieved when I can stop trickling water due to the wear and tear on the pump and the hot water heater.
I get concerned that this weather is just a portent of more to come, but I am trying not to worry about that. If our climate is changing, I may have to do some new and different winterizing around my house. Hopefully, it's just a fluke of a year -- maybe we can blame the lack of sun spots that Greg was talking about in his comment on yesterday's entry. Surely, it's not the end of the world.
